Lantern Crest offers three levels of living and care: independent living, assisted living and memory care.[1][2] Assisted living and memory care are provided in The Ridge, the part of the campus licensed by the state; independent living is offered in The Pointe, The Plaza, The Villas and, since 2026, The Legacy.[3][4][5]

How does independent living work?

Independent living is aimed at active seniors who do not need help with daily care; staff handle housekeeping and maintenance.[10] The Pointe’s apartments each have a full-sized kitchen, a washer and dryer and a balcony, and the community lists itself as a 55+ community.[10] Published floor plans give these approximate sizes:[6]

  • The Pointe: “L” plan studio 630 sq ft; one bedroom 720 and 775 sq ft; two bedroom 1,095–1,275 sq ft; two-bedroom penthouse.
  • The Plaza: studio 623 and 636 sq ft; one bedroom 763 sq ft; two bedroom 1,130–1,295 sq ft.

The Plaza opened in 2021 with 113 independent living apartments.[11][12] The Villas are one-story homes with a full kitchen and a small rear patio, and include the community’s amenity package.[7] The Legacy, with 107 residences, began pre-leasing in April 2026;[5] a July 2026 magazine feature described it as open for tours with 106 apartment residences.[13]

What does assisted living include?

Assisted living at The Ridge gives residents access to 24-hour help with activities of daily living while they set their own daily schedules.[8] The community lists:[8]

  • a studio or one-bedroom apartment with a kitchenette, microwave and full-sized refrigerator;
  • meals in the Montecito Restaurant and snacks;
  • a resident-centered personal care plan;
  • weekly housekeeping, linen and personal laundry service;
  • 24-hour emergency response, activities, a fitness center and scheduled transportation;
  • a pet-friendly policy.

What does memory care include?

Memory care at The Ridge is designed for residents with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.[9] The community says its specially trained employees learn each resident’s life story and that each resident has an individual care plan.[9] Its published list includes a studio or one-bedroom apartment, three daily meals and snacks, weekly housekeeping and laundry, 24-hour emergency response, a secured environment, memory-stimulating activities and recreational outings.[9]

The state record lists the facility’s client type as “RCFE / Dementia” and notes that delayed egress is approved on the first and second floors.[4]

What does the state license allow?

According to the CDSS record, the facility may serve 180 residents aged 60 and over, of whom up to 90 may be non-ambulatory. Up to 20 bedridden residents may be housed on the first floor, and a hospice waiver is approved for 20 residents.[4] See Licensing and inspections.

Is medical or skilled nursing care provided?

Lantern Crest’s state license is a CDSS license for a residential care facility for the elderly.[4] In California, skilled nursing facilities are licensed separately by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).[14] Lantern Crest did not appear in CDPH’s listing of licensed and certified healthcare facilities when it was checked on 30 September 2026.[15]

A primary care (family medicine) office, SharpCare Lantern Crest, operates on the campus at 300 Lantern Crest Way, Suite C. It is run by Sharp HealthCare, which lists same-day care and Medicare among its services there.[16][11]

Is respite care offered?

Not confirmed. The community website pages reviewed for this wiki (assisted living, memory care, floor plans and “Life at Lantern Crest”) do not mention respite or short-term stays. Families should ask the community directly.

How is care planned and priced?

For assisted living and memory care, the community says each resident receives a personalized care program. Care needs are scored on a point system, which is used together with the monthly apartment rate, and needs are reassessed periodically.[8][9] See Costs.
